Recent research: transnational higher education and international trade in education, particularly the interrelationship between the technological, commercial and cultural developments underlying the recent dramatic growth of transnational higher education, and the implications that this growth poses for students, educators and governments around the world. These concerns are linked to changes in the dominant forms of knowledge production, exchange and communication impact upon the role of governments and other actors involved in the constitution of subjectivity.

Recent research: Cathy Greenfield's research interests are focused on the relations between media, politics and the government of populations. Examples of these include: media rhetoric and neo-liberalism, in particular pertaining to Howardism the role of media in financialisation media populism. More generally, she has research experience in theories of representation and ideology, theories of power, and genealogies of populism and democracy. Her early research dealt with psychoanalytic theories of subjectivity, concepts of agency and 'the person', and post-structuralism. She is General Editor of the international journal Southern Review: Communication, Politics & Culture.

Recent research: Peter’s research is concerned with the relations between culture and power, especially in Australia since the 1930s. His teaching and research spans the areas of: communication and politics; finance culture; communication and sport; literature and society; Australian communication histories, particularly radio; histories of communication technologies (in both government and other organizations); cultures of work, enterprise and business.

Recent research: nationalism and internationalism; genocide and national violence; the break up of Britain and the Scottish parliament; and the United Kingdom under Tony Blair. Tom’s books include Faces of Nationalism: Janus Revisited (1997), After Britain: New Labour and the Return of Scotland (2000), Pariah: Misfortunes of the British Kingdom (2002) and Global Matrix (with Paul James, 2005).
